2015: A Year For Stories

When you think of storytelling, who do you think of?  Not what, but who?  For me, it is Chris Lema.  That guy can tell an amazing story.  Not only is he a great storyteller, but his stories are compelling and interactive.  You want to respond, to share, to reach out.

Chris obviously has a knack for storytelling.  But less obvious is that he practices.  He tells stories constantly.  Doing so helps him improve.  He finds the weak points and strengthens them.  He works on tone, inflection, pitch, length, vocabulary and other details of speaking.  Maybe he doesn’t do so on purpose (I honestly don’t know), but even so, practice helps those areas.

What does this have to do with 2015?  Everything.

I’ve read a lot about having goals for a year and not having goals for a year.  My personal preference falls somewhere in the middle.  I want to have an overall theme for the year that drives my goals.  So here it is.

My 2015 is going to be a year of stories.  I want to create epic stories that provide epic value to my readers.  But I don’t want to do it alone.  If fact, I don’t believe it is possible alone.  So I want to create stories with you. In 2015, I’m looking to meet new people, invest in current relationships more, and put the spotlight on those with great stories.  No, I’m not looking to promote your new product, service, or offering.  But I’m sure some of that will happen naturally.  I want to share your story.  What got you to this point.  The struggle.  The victory.

Let’s make 2015 a year for stories.
